Of purse a large number of people: noticel the error and made comment upon . However, the general opinion: of tht ratepayers here seemed to be that e Mayor and Councillors of this townwere well entitled to some monâ€" etary reward for their good services duripg the year. The Mayor and cillors have given without stint eir time and talent to the Town and few would begrudge them any reapnable fee for the services so givâ€" en fnd generally recognized as most va able to the Town. s a matter of fact, however, the Mayor and Councillors in Timmins reâ€" cete nothing for their services, unless odasional abuse from some shortâ€" sithted folk may be considered as sgnething. They give their services wthout fee or reward, es spt the reâ€" rd "of knowing that they "are doing Aeir part in the public service. In her towns, Liskeard and the Falls eing among the number in the North and, Councillors are paid a fee for ach Council Meeting attended, and he Mayor receives a bhonorarium. The aw makes this perfectly legal, and it is certainly reasonable enough. _ In most cases the members of the Counâ€" cils earn many times any small amount they may receive. In the case of* Timmins the Mayor and Councilâ€" lors serve the public as wholeheartedâ€" ly and gengrously as in any town. If their services are free, they are also given.
