T During the summer season people get so accustomed to hearing the curâ€" few bell ring at nine ojclock that when the fire bell sounds at that hour there is no excitement. When the season changzes, however, and the winâ€" ter time for curfew is adopted there are always one or two ‘who get an ‘*‘alarm,"" as it were, for a night or two, until they become accustomed to the new hour for the curfew. This week a couple on Pineâ€"street hearing the ~eurfew bell at eight o‘clock thought it must be a fire alarm and made a dash for the fire hall. In a day of two they will become‘"so acâ€" that they will pa Mrs, Geo. Lawrsnee, of New Lisâ€" keard, was badlivy burned about the arms and face last week waen some stove pipe polishewhich she had on the stove top flamed up and set her dress on fire. Khe was getting ready to put the polish on the pipes and laid the can of ‘material on the top of the stove, in which there was very little fire. The polish, however, took fire in the can and suddenly flamed up, the flames catching on Mrs. Lawrence‘s of the burns being quite deep but the injuries received were not of a serious character except for the imâ€" mediate â€"present. SHAREHOLDERS APPROVE OF ALEERTA COAL DEAL. The use of the Seaplane this year for the forest survey work was found to be very successful. It was an unâ€" usual help and convenience to the men employed in the Forestry Branch, and added to the effiectiveness of the work they were able to do, as well as provâ€" ing a great saver of time and so of expense. â€" Indeed, the use of the seaâ€" plane was found so satisfactory this year that there is taik now of making its use the ordinary feature of the work. â€" The proposal is now being con sidered to establishâ€"a permanent base for the distriect at Haileybury next year and to employ the seaplane more generally all the year round in the forestry work.
