G. i MacDonald, No. 414044 â€" LAST WEEK‘S POLICE COURT LEADS TO MORE CASES. l ! Growing from one of the police court cases last week there is another batch of cases for this week. Sadie Luroy last week was charged with disâ€" orderly methods of living, and Magisâ€" trate Atkinson sentenced her to three months in North Bay jail.â€" The comâ€" plaint was made by a Russian or Ausâ€" trian, and the woman pleaded guilty. On account of her frank and truthful attitude the Magistrate was inclined to be lenient, and the penaity was 0câ€" cordingly less than it migh otherwise have been. The story told by the, woiaan, however, suggested an organiz ed system of immorality as ibeing poss ible in the place wherd she was roomâ€" ing and this, together with charges suggested regarding the illegal* sale of liquor on the premises, resulted in some arrests. Aâ€"girl, known by variâ€" ous familiar nicknaimes around town, who had been a roomer in the same house was searched for on Thursday last after Sadie had been sentenced. The girl could not be found at first, but later Provincial Officer Moore arrested her at South Porcupine and brought her back to Timmins. She: will be tried toâ€"morrow. (Bert Byckâ€" and his wife who conduct the poolâ€" room and rooming house aiso faced charges last week, but on account of the iliness of their infant child the case was adjourned for a week. In connection â€" with the several cases, there are suggestions of charges and counter charges of all kinds being made and many think that some one may (‘spill the beans‘‘ before all the cases are dealt with. Among the other cases dealt with by the police magistrate last week were a number of plain and ornament ed drunks. Mareel Rurarid, of the Mrs. M. A.
