In the Poreupine Camp where there are so many returned men and their families, the issued by the Government regarding the Returned Soldiers Insurance Act will be of special interest. Booklets explaining the Act, and application forms may be obtained from all branches of the G. W.V.A. and other soldiers‘ organizâ€" ations, from ‘the Soldiers‘ Aid Comâ€" mission, Civil Reâ€"Establishment Deâ€" partment, the Military District headâ€" quarters and District offices of the Board of Pension Commissioners, or direct from the Commissioners of the Returned Soldiers‘ Insurance, Transâ€" portation Building, Ottawa. As the cireular says, all returned soldiers and their families will be inâ€" terested in the Returned Soldiers‘ Inâ€" surance Act, under which they are pro vided with an opportunity of obtainâ€" ing Life Insurance at most favourable rates. The Act became effective on Sept. 1st, and will remain in foree for two years. â€" Under the Act any honour ably discharged soldier, sailor or hurse, of the Canadian forses, domicil ed and resident in Canada, may insure with the Government to an amount of from â€" $500.00 _ $5,000.00. _Under certain conditions the widow of a reâ€" turned soldier who died subsequent to discharze my also obtain insuranc> In addition to former members of the C.E.F. the privileges of the Act are available to anyone, male or female, who served during tao late war in the [mperial Army or with the forees of any of the allied or associated powâ€" ers, providinz they were domiciled and resident in Canada before the war and hold an honourable discharge. Many of those who served overseas, while not suffering from a severe disâ€" ability, find that their physical conâ€" dition is such ‘that they are unable to obtain life insurance at all or only at much higher rates than are mormally demanded. They therefore, find them selves severely handicapped in providâ€" ing protection for their dependents. Under the Act, all returned men are placed on an equal basis as no medical examination is required. The premium rates are low. They vary with the age of the insured and the plan of insurance chosen. At the age of 25 a straigitvlife policy for $1000,00 ecosts $1.24 per month. An exceptional advantage of this inâ€" surance is the provision made for a disability benefit. Under this section, should the policyâ€"holder become totalâ€" ly and permanently disabled ‘he is reâ€" lieved from paying further premiums and the insurance money is paid to him direct in annual instalments equal to oneâ€"twentieth of the total amount of the poliev.
