There have been Ministers of the Crown in Canada who â€" have been known t0 travel with somebody â€" else‘s wite â€" and who would have been naturally afraid to have their motherâ€"inâ€"law within a hundred miles of any of their trips, PhHere need be no covert sneer at Hon. The police court cases coming beâ€" fore Magistrate Atkinson, here last week were poteworthy for their numâ€" ber and their interesting variety. They included plain drunks and drunks that were near riots, tapering down to otherwise lawâ€"abiding citiâ€" zens who would not observe the la w regarding _ automobiles after being specially warned by the Chief o Police. One man got away, but the Oflicer got him later on. â€" Questioning the men at the place showed that drinking had been going on and that there was reason for believing that owner of the house and his lady had been selling a little booze. Consequently . Greer arrested the pair, and in the police court lus surmise was upheld. The Magistrate fined Chargelas $300 and eosts, or three months in North Bay jail, with the same penalty for the lady.
