He first left two chickens (feathered) and a corset cover (not for that kind of chickens) at the Chief‘s house, saying they were free and just presents for the Chief and his wife. Then he offered the Chief $50.00 in eash if he would issue im (Cicconi) a license to run a jitâ€" ney. ‘The Sudbury Chief did not issue the license, but instead issued two charges of attempted hbribery against Cicconi who on one count paid $25.00 and costs and on the other $25,.00 without costs. Luigi didâ€" not like it with or without. â€" He is farther than ever from getting that jitney license. It is a hard world for a man who gives things awayâ€"particularly if he gives himself away in the givin@. Hudson Alwin, a fire ranger at Temagami, had a miraculous cscape from death some day ago when the gasoline speeder he was riding at 40 miles an hour rounded a curve and collided squarely with the National. Alwin was hurled to the very top of the engine, landing first at the smockestack and then gently rollâ€" ing off to the ditch, He was bruised a little but generally speaking was unâ€" injured. ‘The speeder was smashed to the proverbial smithereens, while the National was not hurt at all.
