Mrs. T. Lawlor and son, Arthur, left last week for Sudbury where Mr. Lawlor will join them in the near fuâ€" ture, the family intending to reside in the Nickel Town in future. In the removal of this family, Timmins loses respected and useful citizens. They have been among the helpful pioneers of the Poreupine and have ever been ready to do their part for the public welfare and â€" advancement. _ Mrs. Lawlor was a very active and unâ€" selfish worker for the Timmins Red Cross and all other patriotiec efforts. She was a helpful and everâ€"ready member of the Daughters of the Emâ€" pire, the Nary League and other similar societies, and was prominent in church and other cireles. She was among those giving time and energy to the work of the Ladies of Charity and was president of the Bazaar planned for this good work in the near future. Previous to leaving Timmins Mrs. Lawlor was visited by a number of the ladies active in church and other wgood works here. On behalf of the adies of Charity, Mrs. H. Charlebois the President, read an address of appreciation to Mrs, Lawlor, expressâ€" ing the general esteem and the gratiâ€" tude for her active and â€" unfailing efforts for all good eauses, and Mrs. A. Carriere made thepresentation of a beautiful gold dlocket and chain, with a Rosary, Mrs. Lawlor, though taken by surprise, made appropriate reply Miss Agnes Chesser, of the T. N. 0. Hughes, formerly Public School Inspector for Toronto. There will be over a hundred in the party and England, Seotland, France, Belgium, bmtzerhnd and â€" other places of interest overseas will hbe visited. There have been a number of comâ€" plaints recently regarding the theft of Veterans‘ War buttons. It is a particularly contemptible form_ of theft and the people in general should do all possible to assist in the punishâ€" ment of those attempting this mean crime. ‘The returned men very rightâ€" ly value their service badges very highly, and while the law provides severe penalties for the misuse of the soldiers‘ buttons, the people _ also should do their part in helping the law to thus protect the returned men. Ordinary honest people should make it their business to assist in the detecâ€" tion of the fellow,â€"as mean as the gink that would steal candy from a childâ€"the guy who attempts to take from the returned man the button he has won by service that implied the risk of life itself. Passed ‘by the Directors the 19th day of May, 1920. WAS THERE A BABY FOUND? OR IS IT ACTUALLY TWINS? Certified to ‘be a true copy. (Sgd.) John B. HOLDEN, ibeeretm}. Dated the 30th day of June, 1920. There was a story going the rounds last week to the effect that the body of a newlyâ€"born infant child had been found in the road or on one of the lots in the vicinity of the skating rink. The police and other authorities knew nothing of the matter, and furthér enâ€" quiry brought no details as to where the youngster was found or where it had been lost again. â€"Instead another story gained some currency that the dead body of a child had been found in the vicinity of the railroad track. Again, the authorities had no knowâ€" ledge of this alleged discovery. Inâ€" deed, there did not seem to be any body to either story. ‘Both stories, on the contrary, seemed to ‘be but childâ€" rert of imaginationâ€"probhably twins. Chief Wilson would no doubt be pleas ed to get in touch with anyone knowâ€" ing about the dead bodies of infants lying around or about others lying around about the bodies, so _ that he may pick up any ‘bodies or pick up those bhodies that are ‘*seeing things."‘ Mr. and Mrs. A.
