Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bain:â€"It seems almost cruel to intrude upon you in the great Ssorrow that you now will feel in the loss of your dear son, but we cannot delay writing you kow much we sympathize and sorvow with you in this dark hour.. To‘ Jack Bain was much more than just a mem ber of tms Fire Brigade. He had a special place in our esteem and affectâ€" ri0n He was respected far heyond the lot of most young men of toâ€"day for !his truly manly character, and ‘he won affection from us all by his neverâ€"failâ€" ing kindness and bis ever genial disâ€" position. _ We feel his loss so keenly that we have some measure of your affliction. Words of consolation seem vain, but there are two great comâ€" forts : the comforting thought of his manly life, so straight and pleasant; and the comfort that the Shadows of the Valley of Death do not eclipse the light of Love. We pray that Time, the Great Healer, will bring balm to your grieved hearts with the knowâ€" ledge that somewhere in the Many Mansions of Our Father‘s House the lad who loved you with all the sweetâ€" ness of his early affection still loves anrd waits for you. Signed on behalf of the Timmins Fire Brigade. Desar. Mr. and Mrs. ‘Moore:â€"The Timmins Fire Brigade extends to you its very sincere and heartfelt symâ€" pathy in your bereavement. Benigsh Bowâ€" man and Hon Peter Smith recently gave sympathetic hearing to a deputaâ€" tion from the Parry Sound district asking that the T. N. 0. Railway be extended from North Bay to Parry Sound. It was argued, according to the press reports, that there are 42 townships in that district Awithout" railway â€" facilities, The deputation also saw great advantages in having the Parry Sound Harbor connected up with the North Landâ€"JIn replying, the Premier promised consideration but stated that it was his desire to go slowly in the matter of expenditures for the next year or two as he thought them that the purchasing power of Among the interesting data in the Ontario Bureau of Mines Report for 1919 perhaps the information regardâ€" ing some of the smaller gold mines will be of particular popular interest. Among the gold mines, there were twelve small ones with rather unusual records. The largest producer in this dozen was the Croesus in Munro Town ship, this mine milling 692 tons of ore of an average value of $93.61 per ton, a total production of over $64,000.00. The Patricia Mine at Boston Creek had a larger tonnage, treating 1062 tons, but the average value was only $6.73 per ton. The Bourkes Gold Mines beat them all for average value on the ore treated. They sent out three tons from which $1,112.68 was recovered. The Huill Gold Mines at Painkiller Lake produced 25 tons of a vaiue of $635.00, or $25.40 average per ton. West Dome had a shipment of 300 tons that averaged. $8.20 per ton, and the Newray treated 401 tons of an average of $3.78.. The West Dome ore was treated at the Dome Lake mill.
