The Mining Corporation of Cobalt, is making surveys and erecting buildâ€" ings on a propert\ in Butt Township with the view, it is understood, of carrying on active exploration for raâ€" diumâ€"bearing pitchblende. There is pitchblende in full evidence on the property and it is said that recent analysis of samples of this pitchâ€" blende showed it contained a proporâ€" tion of 600 imilligrams of radium to the ton of pitchblende. If further inâ€" vestl"r'ltlon discloses much pitchblende with the same proportion of radium the property will be an unusually rich one. At the present price of radium a ‘‘mine‘‘ of the grade of pitchblende indicated abave, would mean a regular treasure. The fact that the Mining Corporation is actively interested in the matter leads many to feel that there is good grounds for the hope that the North Land is about to add one more to its striking list of preâ€" cilous minerals produced. ‘The existâ€" ence of radiumâ€"bearing pitchblende would about eciap the elimax in the [‘\ortn Land‘s mineral record. $50,000 Stock of Men‘s and Boys‘ Highâ€"Class Clothing, Furnishings Boots Shoes, Etc. at Unusual V alues. In replying, â€" Premier Drury went over the asual line of talk about ‘‘not making promises."‘ etc. He also took opportunity to say a few good words for the United Farmers of Onâ€" tario and particularly the U. The whole tour of the Premer: Drury and his colleagues nmght be snemed up in words quite bap')hcable to this meeting of the Asâ€" sociated Boards of Trade,â€"the North Land spealkers telling: the pressing needs of the North Land, and the Preâ€" mier in his reply saying that he alâ€" ways tried to be short on promises but ~long on [.ulhlmvnt and so he would make ub promises, though he agreed with some of the points raisâ€" ed but did not altogether agree with others, while he would ask the North to remember that the Treasury was a cistern not an artesian well though at the satua time the new (Government was sincere, honest, eflicient and alâ€" together lovely. In his last repert to the President and directors, Mr. C. Coffey manager of the Lake Shore, says that the mine is free of water to the 300â€" foot level, and machines are again at work on the 200â€"foot level. For the month past 570 tons of ore were millâ€" ed, the total value for same being $10,246.28, the average grade of ore ‘being thus about $18.00 to the ton. It is expected that the production for ‘the present month will be baek to the ‘high level reached in production at the Lake Shore before the strike there this summer. The strike was a big iset.- back to Kirkland Lake, but the ‘quality and standing of the Lake Shore is such that this mine will be |one of the very first to completely reâ€" tcover from the effects of the incident. Ratepayers should note the meeting called for this evening in the Council Chamber, â€" Timmins. The Timmins Ratepayers‘ Association is holding its annual meeting, election of officers, etce., and among the several topies slated for discussion is the question of the Secession of the North Land from the rest of Ontario.. It might be well for a goodly gathering of rate payers of this important centre to place on record their opmons regardâ€" ing the seperation of this part of Onâ€" tario from the more conservative disâ€" riects and the creation of a new North Land Province to look after the inter ests of this great country. 5 EGYPfl%mmï¬ï¬f ONT orKk NOW WELL UNDER WAY AT LAKE SHORE. And science has finally developed an effective agent against the plague which is the originating point of over 90% of disease. That plague is ronstipation, and that agent Nujol. The dangers of gonstipation are so widespread because by reducing the body‘s power of resistance through selfâ€"poisonâ€" ing it makes it casier for any disease to develop.
