TO GONSCRIPTION MUCH EXAGGERATED So Says the Canadian Representative of the British Remount Comâ€" mision After Tour of Province. General Neill, Canadian representaâ€" tive of the British Remount Commisâ€" sion, reports that the opposition to Conscription in Quebee has besen much exaggerated. He travelled reâ€" cently all through the Province and says he found the PEOPLE,â€"in conâ€" tradistinction to the alleged leaders, â€"-â€"mst about the same as in other provinees on the question. _ Some were opposed. to Conseription,, just as in other provinees there are some actuated by selfishness or. lack of knowledge who take a similar stand. Cien,. Neill, however, formed the conâ€" _elusion that the Military Act onee passed finally, the law will be quietly and honestly observed in Quebee as elsewhere. Onee the law is passed, the evil agitators in Quebec and elseâ€" where will be curbed, and the people 'in general will show that they: K good lawâ€"abiding Canadians, just as they have always been considered by their â€" average â€" fellowâ€"Canadians in other provinces. Speaking of Generâ€" al Neill‘s tour through Quebec, The Toronto News savs :â€" ‘‘After a comprehensive tour of the Province in search of horses he says that nowhere did he find any serious feeling against â€" consceription. It is possible that the agitation,. agâ€" ainst conseription is confined mostly tofthe professional politicians and to certain noisy organizations in the larâ€" ger cities. The better elements of the population, which are represented by beroic â€" Frenchâ€"Canadian _ battalions: overseas, are probably as strangly in favor of the draft as most Englishâ€" speaking Canadians. It seems reaâ€" sonable also to hbelieve that the Church authorities, who ars always strong in their support of law and order, will condeimn anything Jlike violent opposition to the. selective draft once it is the law of the land.""
