.W‘i C l ho here in a different tem;mrfltm‘e reâ€" member him kindly. A farewell party was last week at the home of Mrs. Starling, South Poreupine, to Mr. Frank O. Cartwright, who has been on the Dome oftice staff for some years past. A pleasant time was speat by all the many friends present, the one matter for regret being the expected leaveâ€" taking of the guest of the evening.. Mr. Cartwright left this week to take is new position with the Braden Copper €o., Sewell, Chile, South America, where in one kind of weathâ€" er he may know that his many friends .\ young man went into Marshallâ€" Ecclestone‘s on Tuesday afternoon, and not apparently having enough time on his ‘hands he walked off with a clock. Chief Craft was notified of the theft and was soon on the trail of the shopâ€"lifter. From the deseripâ€" tion furnished the Chief was able to secure lns man, who on being searched was found to have the elock in his poeket. He will likely be tried before the police magistrate toâ€"morrow, alâ€" though he was willing to pay for his little time when arrested. The annual grand masquerade ball ‘at the Finlanders‘ Hall on Wednesâ€" day evening was a great success. Over a hundred couple attended, and the majority were masked. An unusuâ€" ally large number of clever and atâ€" tractive costumes were in evidence. and as usual a jolly good time was enjoyed by all who attended. Good music by the Finlanders‘ orchestra and the usual other pleasing features added to the evening‘s interest. The prizes for masqwerade costumes were won by: Mr. A. Pirtisalo, first; Mrs.I E.‘ Salame, second; third, Miss H. Kinmun. to weicome the popular young couple home this week. A pleasant social time was spent afterwards at the home of the bride‘s mother, Mrs. Stevens, Charley Munro and his bride, forâ€" merly Miss Louise Stevens, milliner at Sky‘s, returned from Toronto to south Poreupine on Monday ev ening. The marriage took place in Toronto on Friday last, and friends of the couple gathered at the station there to welcome the popular young couple In the past some people who wantâ€" ed to go by the police station have landed up there much against their desires, while others who were anxious fo find the place might easily pass it without notice. For the benefit of the latter elass there is now a neat sign over the, front door saying in clear, plain letters, ‘*Timmins Police Station.‘" The sign was put up last week for the convenience of the pubâ€" ie by Chief 8. R. Craft, who also was the artist who painted the sign itself. Stewart. The by MtF.: A. T4. FPals, and Mrs. the witnesses.
