About ‘1500 people witnessed the game" inâ€" _ eluding a party of about 300 fromi the mining town. who were conspieo 1 uous all afternoon by their incessant rooting. The weather wasideal with the exception that. the temperature was too high for ideal soccer. The'l‘oronto team were superior to their opponents in eVery department of the game. and with the exception of periodic rushes the northemers were on the defensive almost the en- tire period. ln team work especially (Tohalt sutfered in contrast with the local aggregation. whose combina. tion work was largely responsible for the one-sided score. in spite of the repeated aggressive work of their op- ponents. the northerners put up a stuhhorn defensive game. and the score would haVe heen much closer :had it not lieen for the brilliant, shooting of the Toronto hoys. 'l‘oronto scored first. after about lc') minutes' play. Young centred the ball from lefl wins: and Rutherfond head- ed it into the net. After about. ten minutes more of indecisive playing, Walkee’ added another for Toronto by a pretty shot. The same .player’ again did the trick after Raven had centred the hall a few minutes later. and this made the score tfltree to no- thing at half-time. Cobalt pressed at the early Ipart of the second half, and after about ten minutes’ play Binny dribled from centre and scored. Toronto came back, and three minutes later Ruth- erford tallied on a nice shot. Toron- to continued to press and Young added another from a mix up in front of the coal. Two minutes later he headed another into the net, for Toronto. Raven dribbled down the field and centred to Cater, who beat Brisdon on a nice shot. A minute later. the same player added another after some pretty eomhination work. 'l‘his ended the scoring. The most interesting' and exciting l:ame of the four game series of base- ball played between the Dome and South Porcupine was witnessed here last Saturday afternoon. In every inningr the game was a tie, and it was a pitcher's battle to see which one would come out on top and it took ten innings to decide the win- ner. Finally South Porcupine got to Kelly for a couple of hits, along with a few errors, and took the game, Jackson hitting the pill int-o left garden and driving in the win‘ ning run. The features of the game were a three. bagger by Ross in the 2nd and a three bamer by Lake in the Bob for South Porcupine, and Kelly and Regnall for two cushions in the 6th.
