Miss Toporow- ski attended high school in Osh- awa and graduated from Her- man Collegiate in Windsor. Miss Toporowski took her oath, September 21, in Detroit Michigan and she completed boot camp training at Bainsbridge, Indiana During her training in Indiana she was chosen because of her! achievements and personality to be one of the WAVE delegates| to witness the signing by Presi-| dent L. That's because dolls are still tops in popularity. But where once the choice was limited ~fo}a doll that looked pretty and did nothing, you now have to select from an array that does just about anything except dance the cha-cha. | oday's dolls laugh, cry, talk, walk and eat. A check with the toy departments of Toronto department stores lists five that are most popu- lar: | Baby First Step, who walks | and talks; Chatty Cathy, who just talks; Baby Secret, who talks but in a_ confidential whisper; Baby Hungry, whose mouth moves in a chewing motion when you insert a spoon and who sucks in her cheeks to imitate drinking when you stick a bottle in her mouth; and Baby Magic, who opens and closes her eyes and raises her arms to drink from a bottle at the wave of a mag- netized wand. Many dolls have hair that can be washed, curled, waved | and styled. Some are fashion- conscious, with a wardrobe | that ranges from mini-skirts | to chic blouses and would just | about qualify for the best- dressed list.
