On Sept. 25 in the United Nations, External Affairs Min- ister Martin called for an unconditional cessation of the U.S. bombing of North Vietnam to test Hanoi's willingness to talk peace. Mr. Martin said last week: destroy our position with the U.S. by speaking up." WOULD END REGIME On the subject of Rhodesia, Mr, Martin said in the Com- mons Sept. 29 that "we would be among those who would urge further sanctions to bring an end to the regime in Rhodesia. On Oct. 12, however, John Matheson, parliamentary secre- tary to Mr. Pearson, said mere- ly that "the government will take initiatives at an appropri- + king his Ci at the request and on behalf of" Mr. Martin. Under UN tions imposed last year, not all trading com- modities now are covered. The white-supremacist government of Rhodesia claims that even its trade with Britain is increasing.
