(CP Wirephoto) Full-Time Minister Due On Housing, Urban Affairs ee iis% OTTAWA (CP)--Prime' Minis- ter Pearson is expected to name a full-time housing and urban affairs minister, but the appointment will not likely come before a federal-provin- cial conference on housing, an informed source said Tuesday. The provinces are to be invit- ed to a conference on national housing problems that will take place late next month or in early December. The government has come under heavy criticism for leav- ing authority for the Crown- owned Central Mortgage and Housing Corp. with J. R. Nichol- son, who already is burdened with the weighty labor portfo- lio. Last week the Liberals sur- vived, 112 to 98, a non-confi- dence motion based on a united opposition attack on their hous- ing policy. Stanfield Seen As Man To Ease Racial Strife HALIFAX (CP)--Dalton Camp, national Progressive Conservative president, says Robert Stanfield has the quali- ties and the skill to at least help eradicate the rift between French- and English-speaking factions of the country. Mr. Camp said in an inter- view here that the rift was the Canada today. He said he believed the prob- lem was greater than was gen- erally realized and that the division stemmed not so much from Quebec as from outside the province. Not only would the new party Jeader, Mr. Stanfield, make a which he thought would be held next year. He said there would be a Lib- eral leadership convention before the election and predict- ed Prime Minister Pearson would step down early next year. "I believe External Affairs Minister Paul Martin has the biggest personal following of any prospective Liberal candi- date to the leadership," he said. Mr. Camp goes to New Brunswick today where he will speak in support of provincial PC Leader J. C. Van Horne. An election will be held in that province Oct. 23. The government's concern over housing, however, did not start last week. Community development, urban renewal and housing have been persis- tent themes for months in speeches by cabinet members.
