YOU'LL NEED a program to tell the club this year, at least for a while. Gone are Ian Young, Nick Beverley, Chris Roberts Paul Cadieux, Bill White, George Babcock, Bob Black. Danny Sandford and Bill Scott as four seasons with the Generals. Still around, however. are Ron Dussiaume, Brian Morenz, Fred O'Donnell, Bob Walton, Joe Robertson and Jim taker. _ CLUBS THAT looked In preseason games Hamilton, Toronto, and Niagara Falls Kitchener with league put together. Kitchener Rangers, with stars such as Walt Tkaczuk and Jim Kru- licki back in the lineup. are bieng touted as Memorial Cup contenders. Generals couldn't buy many goals, much less a win, on Kitchener ice last winter, although they. fared well at home against the Rangers. the OTTAWA 67s. got a rude welcome into the league last night at Niagara Falls as the Flyers rolled to a convincing 9-0 win. Flyers, under coach Paul Emms, will give all clubs a rough time in the roar- ing city as usual, The club has @ good crop of holdovers but will hardly look the same without Derek Sanderson prowling around, Sanderson behaved well on Oshawa ice last winter and should have a good future in pro hockey, Barry Wilkins, Bob Edmonds, Whit- good were the first three clubs having more returnees than the rest of the thine WHILE ON the subject of junior hockey, fans in Whitby will be out looking over the Lasco Steelers tomorrow night as they open their Metro Jun- ior "B" League schedule. Coach Jim Cherry and man- ager Ivan Davie think they have an excellent chance for league honors this season, picking up several outstanding prospects from _ Generals' camp. Young Ted, Hull should be a favorite with the Whitby fans. Reason he didn't wind up with the Crushmen is that since he comes from Toron he must play junior ' hockey in the Metro League. MINOR HOCKEY registra- tions in Oshawa continue next Some had put week, with midgets holding a skating session Monday from 6 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. Juveniles go Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and bantams again next Saturday from 8 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. Registration fee this year is $8, with the asso- ciation asking for - half on registration night and the re- mainder by the fourth league game. This fee will cover the winter hockey program, with the exception of practice time The players won't be required to pay when playing SPORTS FANS certainly have their problems.
