Pratt. | MTN eM MA Rid Seen For Quebec OTTAWA (CP) -- The federal government is prepared to come to the aid of Quebec, and particularly Montreal, if fore- cast high unemployment mate- rializes this winter, informed sources said Tuesday. They said such aid would be given irrespective of the great debate on Quebec independence versus Confederation. But at the same timé this assistance would be prize evi- dence for the argument of Eric Kierans, president of the Que-| bec Liberal Federation, that| Quebec would be far better off! economically by remaining in| Confederation. Robert Cliche, Quebec leader of the New Democratic Party, Monday supported Mr, Kierans, at least in part, by saying that Quebecers are more interested in daily needs such as jobs than in the constitutional question A study by. the Eenomic Council of Canada shows that, based on 1961-64 conditions, unemployment will rise higher in Quebec than in Canada as a whole.
