Much time and effort have been devoted by campaign manager W. S. Nurse and members of the executive to the planning of the drive. All that remains to assure its success is the wholehearted participation of all citizens. With an. objective of $38,225, the appeal will make it pos- sible for the nine participating agencies to continue and ex- pand their work in the com- munity. While the objective is 28 per cent higher than the total received last year, no difficul- ty in attaining it is anticipated. Meetings have been held in all industrial plants, and organ- izations have been set up to promote the idea of pledging money through payroll deduc- tions, In addition, a one-night blitz will be held Oct. 16, when every home in the community will be visited by volunteer canvassers. Business and pro- fessional men have also set up organizations to cover all phases of this sector of the town's life. This coming Monday night, a variety night will be held at Henry Street High School to kick off the paign. TWO CHARGES | Charged with drinking while under age, Bernie Duguay, 19, was fined $50 and costs or 10 days. On a charge of failing to produce a driver's permit he was fined $20 or four days. On the charge of having a licence while sus- pended, he drew a 15-day jail term and for having a "wrong"' licence, a $50 fine and costs or 15 days in jail concurrent with the previous charge. $50 FINE A fine of $50 and costs was imposed on Robert Whitbread, Toronto, who pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving. The accused told the court that, due to his physical condition, 'he was voluntarily giving up his driver's licence for life.
