Historical Society Displays Replica Early County Store The Oshawa and_ District Historical: Society will display a replica 19th century country store at the second annual Home Show. President John Halliday said merchandise, typical of the time, will be shown at the booth during the three day Home Show. Mr. Halliday said a commit- tee of six is planning the ex- hibit '"'and whatever they get their hands on, they'll use". POPULARIZE PROJECT The society was represented at the Home Show last year and the exhibit showed a var- iety of items. This year, the theme will be built around a 19th century country store. Mr. Halliday said the histor- ical society hopes to popular- ize its projects and encourage people to become members. The historical society's booth is being provided by directors of the home show. The society has launched a campaign to raise money for the restoration of a lakeshore building which was once used as a sea captains' inn. ROBINSON HOUSE The Robinson House, present ly being renovated, has a color- ful 'history which dates back more than 100 years. Mrs, Gor- don D. Conant, chairman of the society, says the Robinson house needs about $35,000 to complete- ly restore it to its original form. The building is presently re- ceiving a $10,000 renovation job. Officials plan to build a workshop in the basement of the old house for historical so- ciety members.
