In spite of grey skies and a fine drizzle, over 100 Blair Park subdivision resi- dents had an enjoyable time together. Very fittingly the first chorus sung in the bus, was "Heavenly Sunshine'. At the park, the tiny tots stole the show in the inimita- ble way while the three - leg- ged primary girl's race and the junior boys' wheelbarrow race disproved the ancient theo- ry that two heads are better than one. The spider race also indicated that size isn't every- thing when it comes to spiders, especially on wet grass. Throw- ing water - filled balloons from ever increasing distances to a partner proved very refreshing while the fathers tried their skill (spelled L-U-C-K) at threading needles and the mo- thers hammered spikes into a piece of wood. The hot dogs cooked on the spot were most welcome espe- cially when followed up by the culinary genius of many contri- butors. Ice cream and choco- late milk added the finishing touch. Bernie McQuaid of Oshawa concluded with a short message using black, red, white and gold boxes to depict the sinner, covered by the atoning blood of Christ, made pure in the sight of God and fit for Heaven. The trip home was just as harmoniously noisy as the one to the park and all had the feeling that it was one of the best picnics ever. St. Mark's UCW To Pack Clothing Miss Carol Smith was the soloist at St. Mark's United Church last Sunday morning, when she sang Austin Miles, "In The Garden', The mini- ster's message was based on the first psalm and was entit- led, 'Two Ways of Life', Members of the UCW will be packing clothes for shipment to the overseas depot very soon. are} Ci overseas. There is need for all types of good clean clothing. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at St. Mark's next Sunday, and July 16 the Sacrament of Infant Baptism will be observed. Members and adherents of St. Mark's will be joining those of the other Whitby congrega- tions this Sunday afternoon in ial Park for the Whitby From there ship t made to various relief centres Community Centennial Service. WHITBY - AJAX PERSONALS Mrs. Thomas Wilcox and her children, Debbie and Dawn, have left for a seven-week trip abroad. She will be visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hulme, of Layland England. They will also visit in Northern Ireland. Mrs. Wilcox is Brown Owl of the 2nd Whitby. Brownies and while in England will visit two Guide Companies and three Brownie Packs. A get-acquainted barbecue is to climax an active year in Scouting June 24 at the Cub and Scout camp site. A good tum out is hoped for. Mrs. Flora Brand, Dundee, Scotland, has arrived for a three-month visit with her son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Breen, 1011 Centre Street South, With their house guest they will visit several places of interest and also rela- tives in Vermont, US_A. | Stages First Exhibition | WHITBY (Staff) -- Whitby;ronto.
