| THE OSHAWA TIMES, Friday, June 9, 1967 § Township May Close . Waste Disposal Area COLUMBUS (Staff) -- The township of East Whitby would be much pleased if Oshawa would stop dumping their indus- trial waste in the township, 'Reeve John Howden said Thurs. day night. Council unanimously. passed a resolution that a delegation of council meet with the Oshawa Industrial land fill area located in the township. The industrial waste question came up when the township re- ceived a letter from the Oshawa city engineer advising the town- ship share of the land fill opera- tion costs this year would be $2,710 representing 3.92 per cent of the total cost. CAUSE: FOR CONCERN Reeve Howden said this was about $500 over the amount the township should be paying and added that the township was . burying the waste materials of one of the largest manufac- turing cities in the province. "The present dumping method is causing us untold grief and causing one of our best sub- divisions untold concern," said Reeve Howden. The council hinted that fires sprang up at the dumping grounds every time they got filled up. 2 named the girls and boys to be Legion Branch [procured and the general super- lintendents, Mr. and Mrs. C, To Attend Service|mia: presented certificates. | Members of the local branch WHITBY -- The church school|of the Royal Canadian Legion joined the congregation of St.|will attend St. Mark's this com- Mark's United Church in morn-|ing Sunday in keeping with Na- ing worship last Sunday.
