2 'THE OSHAWA TIMES, Wednesday, Mey 3, 1967 A GLANCE AROUND THE GLOBE Strict Enforcement Asked Of Auto Trade Agreement MONTREAL (CP) -- The an- nual convention of the Automo- tive Industries Association un- animously adopted a resolution Tuesday which seeks strict en- forcement of the Canada-tJ.S. auto trade agreement and op- poses any changes in the pact. The resolution insists 'that existing legislation be rigidly enforced and that commitments undertaken by the vehicle man- ufacturers under the agreement are completely fulfilled." The association is composed| of both Canadian - owned com- panies and U.S. subsidiaries. The three - year agreement calls for the auto manufacturers to increase their use of Cana- dian parts in new cars by $260,- 000,000 in 1968. The pact is to be reviewed this summer and the associa- tion, which represents parts makers and distributors, op- poses any change. Earl Hughes, the newly- elected president, said the fact that most of the parts manufac- turers in Canada and Ameri- can - owned "is not an impor- tant factor." He said many of these firms have substantial investments in Canada. (AP)--Beef cat- tle, fenced into drought-parched rangelands, are starving to death as the state's worst drought in 25 years continued today. Gold Theft Clue LONDON (AP) -- Photo- graphs of three known crimi- nals, one of them badly scarred, were circulated through the un- derworld today by police hunt- ing Britain's Great Gold Rob- bers. The photographs were picked out by the truck driver and two guards who were overpowered by the raiders. None of them wore masks in the daylight am- bush. When checked by police Monday in a department store, Edward Arsenault had $12,140 wrapped in a nylon stocking stuffed in his pocket. He told police he had been carrying the money, the pro- ceeds of a gold-claim sale, for 15 years. He was escorted to a bank where police persuaded him to deposit the money.
