With two out and two Dodgers on base iin the bot- tom of the inning, the rains poured down and time was called. Clay Submits Another Bid In Fight With Draft Board WASHINGTON (AP) -- Cas- sius Clay, unbeaten in the ring as the world heavyweight box- ing champion but almost down and out in the courts, makes another appeal today to the U.S. Supreme Court in an attempt to prevent his induction into the army in Houston April 28. Clay's attorney, Hayden C. Covington of New York, said he would ask the nation's highest court to reverse its decision of Monday in which it denied the 25-year-old champion's request for an injunction to stop the in- duction. Covington said he would file three separate briefs and if they all are turned down, there would be more appeals and possibly a new suit in Houston against the national selective service board. Clay is fighting his pending induction on various constitu- tional questions he has raised in lower courts. In addition to losing his ap- peal to the U.S. Supreme Court, he also lost a battle in the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati which also turned down Monday his request for an injunction to halt the induction. Clay, who prefers to be called Muhammad Ali, the name he took upon becoming a Black Muslim, said: "T will stand up for my re- ligious beliefs even if it» means I am put in jail for 50 years or am stood up in front of machine guns." | He said his religion forbids fighting and killing in wars. In the 6th court decision, a three-judge court ruled there was no constitutional question litigate the validity of their in- duction before acceptance for national service," said the court.
