Mrs. V. Savin, spokesman for the group, referred to an up- coming committee of adjust ment hearing where R. J. nigan Construction will ask for relief from a bylaw requiring a 20-foot sideyard. Mrs. Savin said that home owners on Roosevelt were in formed when they purchased the land that the greenbelt between Achilles Rd. and their homes was to be kept as such. She advised Council that a number of residents would be willing to purchase the land from the town and sign an agreement never to build on it. She said_ property wanted assurance that. the greenbelt property would not be infringed on. Mayor Harry M. Smith told the delegation that it was un- likely that the land in question would ever be built upon. He said the reason for the hearing was to allow a carport to be constructed on a lot recently sold to the construction firm by the town. Mayor Smith suggested that the homeowners appear before the committee if they felt the bylaw would infringe on their rights. He added that if the pub- lic use land was to be changed the homeowners would be noti- fied well in advance. Mrs. Savin said the home- owners would get together with a view to purchase the property from the town and would be in touch with the town clerk. Order Given By Medd Cut Weeds AJAX (Staff) -- County Weed Inspector Robert Medd advised the Ajax Town Council Mon- day night that weeds on vacant lots will have to be cut this year or they will be ordered cut by him.
