The Western Bank was ab- sorbed, Feb. 16, 1908, by the Standard Bank, which im turn amalgamated with the Canadian Bank of Commerce, Nov. 5, 1928. The new premises in which the branch is now located, at the north east corner of Dundas and Brock Streets, was opened in October, 1964. The bank, through its predecessors, has given continuous service to Whitby and district for 85 years. A. R. B. Conrad is the pres ent manager of the branch.
