Whitby held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period. They appeared to have the Fly- ers well in hand and were get- ting tremendous goal-tending from Marl McConkey. Flyers must have received a real stiff "talking to" during the intermission as they came out flying in the second stanza and gave the Gold Seals a rough time of it when they scored four unanswered goals, to take a 4-1 lead head- ing into the final frame. We chatted with manager Alex Brown of the Gold Seals after the game and he was somewhat disappointed at his team's loss. He thought the game was much closer than the score would indicate and the shots on goal, 37-36 for Leam- ington, would bear out his thinking.
