Hair additions come in sev- eral stylings -- from a long "fall" to full wigs. They are also~in both human and syn- thetic hair. Especially popular is the long, swinging fall. It's the most versatile and can usually be managed by the wearer her- self, For girls in their teens and 20s it is often merely added at the top of their own long hair to give extra thickness. Or it can create a olng, shoulder-curl look on shorter. hairdos. For spring the wig house of Joseph Fleischer has introduced the little fall--a demi-wig that covers all but the very top of your own hair. Under it you can ha¥® whatever length haircut you prefer. The fall can be dressed to turn under or curl out. The well-known. fashion de- signer Oleg Cassini has also turned to the creation of a wig at home. | Human nair pieces should be |dry-cleaned and it is better to have this done at your hair- dressing salon. Obviously synthetic hair- pieces cannot look as natural as human hair. Dr. C, A. Douglas Ringrose reported to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Thurs- day on studies among 800 women using the loop in the Ed- mMonton area. The loop is a plastic device shaped like a series of S curves which is inserted in the uterus. He told a press conference later that the loop 'has over- taken the pill' in popularity in his experience, particularly among women who had one or! more children. | An intensive study of 136 women who had borne at least one child indicated that two in 100 became pregnant. This com- pares with statistics of 100-per- cent effectiveness of the pill when it is taken without inter- ruption or isn't stopped because other medication is being taken. SIDE EFFECTS MINOR He also said that side effects from the loop are minor and there are fewer of them than from the pill. Four-fifths of childless women who had the loop inserted did 80 without noticeable side effect. Ninety-seven per cent of women with at least one child ex- perienced no side effect. : In fact, said Dr. Ringrose, among the 136 women with a child, 59 per cent reported more enjoyable sexual relations and 40 per cent reported greater in- terest in sexual activity. He also said that 30 per cent of these women felt there would ry an increase in extra-marital if pre-marital sex relations as| a result of this method of con-| traception. Based on experience with 800 patients, Dr. Ringrose said there were 16 pregnancies among loop users.
