8 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Thursday, February 9, 1967 SPORTS BEAT : | By Eric Wesslby Times Sports Editor OSHAWA GENERALS will "be watching tonight's game in 'Peterborough quite closely. The hometown Petes enter- tain Montreal Junior Cana- + diens, and it's an especially . important game for all three teams. Generals are behind "the other teams, two in ar- 'rears of Montreal and three back of Canadiens. If Gene- rals have a preference tonight it's probably Montreal. Gen- erals don't have any games remaining with Canadiens but they face Petes once more, and tonight will give Generals *a game in hand on. Roger Neilson's squad. GENERALS HAVE nine games remaining, but don't face Junior Canadiens or Lon- don again. Petes, with nine games left, won't see St. , Catharines or Niagara Falls again. Montreal has games remaining against every club except Generals, including three against St. Catharines. They play Hamilton once and «all others twice. Six of Cana- diens remaining 14 games are at home. Generals and Petes each have five home games. KITCHENER RANGERS are here for a game Saturday night, but after a good start @gainst Kitchener, Generals have had nothing but trouble with them. Oshawa won the season opener 3-0 over Rang- ers, and tied 2-2 in their next outing. Since then, however, Generals have scored only two goals in three games. Their last two trips to Kit- cher resulted in shutouts for Rangers. GENERALS CAME through with another last-minute ef- fort Tuesday night to gain a tie with St. Catharines here.
