Oshawa Times Photo Preliminary Drawings For Hospital Approved The Whitby General Hospital, at present only a name, will very soon be a reality accord- ing to Gordon Richards, vice- president of the Board of Gov- ernors. When questioned about the financial aspects of the ven- ture, Mr, Richards said: "Il am extremely pleased with the people and industry in this locality as the delinquency rate on pledges made has been less than one per cent, while in other areas the rate has been approximately 10 per cent."' Out of $475,000 pledged over $200,000 has already been received. The Ontario Hospital Services Commission has gratned ap- proval for the Board of Gover- nors to commence the working drawings. After the preliminary drawings have in turn been ap- proved, the hospital will call for tenders. PLAN FOR GROWTH The hospital is being planned so that will be able to grow from 117 beds, the original figure to 600 in the future. The hospital's footings are being designed to support nine additional floors which may be added at any time. At the hearing Tuesday OPP Constable John Harrison, of the Downsview detachment, said he investigated the accident at 9.10 p.m. Dec, 29, 1964.
