(CP) New York Rangers haven't played half their 7 road schedule yet but they already have amassed more points in opposi- tion rinks than they did in the entire 1965-66 National Hockey League season. Statistics released by NHL headquarters today show this is one of the main reasons the first-place Rangers hold a four- [poe lead over Chicago Black lawks in the league standings. New York, with 38 points, and Chicago are the only teams playing better than .500 hockey on the road. Of 15 games played away from home, the Rangers have won seven, lost five and tied three for 17 points. Chicago has won six, lost five and tied two road games. Last season in 35 road games, the Rangers won six, lost 25 and tied four for 16 points. New York's scoring isn't that much better, averaging 2.93 goals a game on the road compared with 2.86 last season. Hower.r, their goals-against mark is down by almost two goals a game--?.53 against this season compared with 4.49 last season. MIKITA LEADS The Rangers have four play- ers within the top 10 point-get- ters in the individual scoring race, still led by centre Stan Mikita of Chicago. Mikita has 43 points, 13 more than Bobby Rousseau of Mont- real Canadiens and Phil Goy- ette of New York. Mikita leads the league in assists with 29, two more than Goyette. The Rangers won all three games last week, giving them eight wins in their last nine and 12 victories and a in the last 15 outings. Ed Giacomin, New York's goaltender, has allowed only 27 goals in those 15 games for an outstan 1.80 goals - against average. His average for the season is 2.18, best in the Giacomin and Roger Crozier of Detroit share the lead in the shutout department with four each. Harvey Wants To Join Nats BALTIMORE (CP) --Doug Harvey, former National Hockey League defensive great, said Monday he would like to play for Canada's national hockey team. A spokesman for Baltimore Clippers of the American Hockey League said Friday night that the Clippers had sold the 42-year-old Harvey to Provi- dence Reds of the same league, but that a dispute over the sale had developed between Harvey and Baltimore general manager Terry Reardon.
