Oshawa B & PW Club Works To Improve Status Of Women In November, 1942, the Busi- ness and Professional Women's Club of Oshawa received its charter, thus joining a vast group of gainfully employed women whose aim is to encour- age women to aecept respon- sibility on the job and in the community and to safeguard their civil and economic rights. In 1930 Canada joined the In- ternational Federation, Mem- bership in any one club is an open sesame to the privileges of any Business and Profession- al Women'a Club in any place er country in the world and the fine spirit in which mem- bers from 'all countries fra- ternize is a lesson in interna- tional relations. Miss Margaret Hyndman, prominent Toronto lawyer, and a Past International President of the Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, led the struggle to ach- ieve "rqual pay for equal work" for women in Ontario. J. Kim- merly; corresponding secre- tary, Mrs. Leslie Leith; and committee chairmen. The annual field day, Kinder- garten tea, curriculum night, father's night, skating party, open house and annual meeting were all well attended. In May the association was presented with a certificate in the Booster's Club for having boosted its membership by 20 per cent during the °65-66 sea- son. Bars and letters were pre- sented to outstanding students in June. A gift of money was presented to the school to be used at the discretion of the staff, and the association pro- vided the annual Grade 8 grad- wation party. This is a training school in Jordan, a project of the Canadian Federation of Bu- siness and Professional Wom- en's Clubs.
