(CP) -- A piece of farm machinery which the manufacturer claims will lighten the farmer's work load was demonstrated Monday on a farm in this village 40 miles northwest of Toronto. Called a fine-cut forager the machine is intended to allow one man to do four heavy farm jobs alone. The forager is basically a standard swath cutter with a chopper incorporated, In one operation the farmer can cut hay, chop it and blow it into a wagon for transport to the barn. William Trophy -- Mrs. Once at the barn, the chop is fed back into the forager from the wagon and blown into what- ever is being used for storage. Two attachments are availa- ble with the machine: A pickup can be placed over the cutter to lift into the chop- per hay that has already been cut and raked; A corn nose that will harvest corn and chop it for silage. Gerald McKee of McKee Bros., manufacturers of the machine, says it eliminates the need for extra help, thus help- ing to alleviate a farm-labor shortage. Auto Workers Eliminate Jobs LONDON (AP)--Three mem- bers of Britain's automobile workers union now explain how they discovered that two men can do the work of three. By their discovery, one of three workers became redundant. "I'm perfectly happy about eliminating my job,"' says Chris- topher Wells, 31, "for the com- pany has upgraded me and given me another job." Wells, James McShane, 46, and James Hodgson, 27, had worked together as a team for five weeks at the Vauxhall Mo- tor Co.'s factory in Cheshire. Their job was to remove car bodies from one assembly line to another factory level. "After doing this together for five weeks," said Wells, "we de- cided that something was wrong." McShane, a veteran in car} factories, went on: | "We talked everything over) during a tea break one day and| decided that two of us could do| the job Metter than three" TRIED IT FOR WEEK He said he and his workmates experimented in secret for a week with two men doing the job instead of three. Said a spokesman for the American- -owned company: "The management is de- lighted. It shows for one thing that the British workman will help out, even at some financial risk to himself. The other work- ers seem pleased because they know if they talk themselves out of their own particular job, they will be givn another with at least the same pay." For turning a three-man job into 2 two-man job, the employ- ers avarded the three men a total of £174 ($516). Job Walkout WINDSOR, Ont. (CP)--About} 550 hourly-rated workers at Mc- Kinnon Industries Ltd. 'in Wind- sor walked off the job Monday afternoon. The auto engine company of- ficials declined to comment on the walkout. Officials of Local 195, United Auto Workers union (CLC), said the walkout was not connected with others in the auto industry here last week. They said union and manage- ment would be meeting soon to discuss the issues. You bet they do. And we should know. We built our business by saving pennies for generations of folks like you. But what happens if you want two? Do you pay 2 times 9¢ or 184? Not at A&P, We sell it at 2 for 17. That's the fair way-the A&P way. Yes, in the food business... in food budgeting, pennies make a difference. We watch them for you and for us, For instance, take our policy on multiple-priced items. If an item is priced 8 for 25¢, the price for one is obviously 9¢. Is this a good reason for shopping A&P? It's one of many. do pennies make a difference In CREAM STYLE 20-FL AsP CHOICE QUALITY FEATURE PRICE! QQ CORN \ VITAMINIZED » MITCHELL'S APPLE JUICE «ner '1.00 Reg.
