ANN LANDERS Care Of Other's Babies Satisfies Mother Love Dear Ann Landers: This may be one of the strangest letters you have ever received. I hope you won't think it is too strange to print because I suspect other mothers have the same prob- lem but refuse to admit it. My husband and I raised our |to be interesting as well as edu- cational. I wish everyone would try to deliver phone directories for just one day, They'd have lnew respect for the postman and other delivery people. | It is shocking that thousands |of residents don't display their house numbers~elither on the four children to be independent | mailbox or anywhere else, How and self-reliant. Everyone told|do they expect anyone to locate us we did a wonderful job. As them? I had to enlist the help the childen grew older I began|of neighbors in a great many to wish we hadn't done such a' cases. I asked one woman who good job. I resented their inde-|had no number on her porch or pendence. I wanted them to need me and ask for my ad- vice. Before long I began to meddle in their affairs. I even) tried to take over their children. After a run-in with my daugh-| ter-in-law I decided to talk to! my doctor. He told me I had an over-supply of mother love) and that I needed another baby which was impossible at my age. So he suggested an alterna-| tive. He sent me to the welfare} people and I obtained a child care licence. I put an ad in the paper and within three days I had a 13-month-old baby boy. Two weeks Jater I advertised for a second baby. Now I have two little boys and I'm happier than I've been in years. The mothers of these children say I am the answer to their prayers. I know they are the answer to mine. When these mothers take their babies away Y will get replacements. There will always be mothers who must work and babes who need @ mama-substitute. This is my specialty. My relationship with my own children is betes than ever And I have no time for aches and pains or crying spells, How I wish I had seen a letter like this in your column five years ago. It could have saved me a lot of unhappiness.--Spark Re- kindled Dear Spark: What a beautiful example of receiving through giving!
