g Te OSHAWA TIMES, Fridey, Apr 22, 1966 Spotlighting... THE GENERALS By WREN BLAIR General Manager of Oshawa Generals Shawinigan Falls Bruins move into the Civic Auditorium tomorrow night at 7.15. It's the opening game of a best-of-five series for the Eastern Canada Junior "A" championship and the winner will gain a berth in the Memorial Cup Finals. Generals polished off the North Bay Trappers in four- straight games by lopsided scores and now remains to be seen how much this "soft séries" may affect the local club. Not much is known about the strength of Shawirigan but we note that the great "Rock- et" Richard has 'picked them to win The Memorial Cup. The San Francisco Examiner reported that the 42-year-old ex- ecutive, who also coached the Seals most of the three seasons, would resign at the end of the} current campaign. | "Tt's true, I won't deny it," Poile said. "I didn't want it known until after the Seals fin- ished the playoffs. I felt it might hurt the team. I hope it won't." The Seais and Victoria Maple Leafs currently are tied 2-2 in the semi-final playoffs. San Francisco, under Poile's leader- ship, won the league title in the 1962-63 and 1963-64 campaigns. WILL TAKE VACATION Poile said he planned to take a vacation, his first in four years. Then he will either stay in San Francisco in some other endeavor or seek a position as general manager in the National Hockey League which will ex- pand in 1967.
