(CP)--Plans to increase St. Lawrence Sea- way tolls and reimpose tolls on the Welland Canal will curtail shipping and add to inflation, says Stuart Armour, president and general manager of Great Lakes Waterways Development Association. Speaking to Rotary Club members here Monday, Mr. Armour said increased water- way tolls will be opposed and attempts will be made to elim- inate them. Mr. Armour said "if Canada can persuade the U.S. to agree to higher seaway tolls it appar- ently intends to reimpose tolls on the all-Canadian Welland Canal." He said 20 submissions oppos- ing toll increases have been filed in Ottawa, including one from_his_ association. "An increase in seaway tolls and reimposition of tolls on the Welland Canal would mean higher prices for raw materials and the energy essential to Ca- Tax Foundation . Explanation Urged TORONTO (CP) -- Ontario's separate school trustees should demand an explanation from Premier Robarts why the On- tario tax foundation plan is not nadian heavy industry. Higher raw materials and energy costs would increase production costs and these, in turn, would be re- flected in higher prices for man- ufactured products to all con- sumers."' working to their satisfaction, says the association's president. Dr. J. W. Fyfe of Sudbury said financial discrimination against Ontario's separate schools is still excessive. He spoke at the annual convention this week of the Ontario Sep- arate School Trustees' Associa- tion. The plan, introduced in the legislature in 1963, was designed to relieve the financial burden on separate school boards, but public school boards in the prov- ince were still able to spend on the average $100 more a pupil Company Has Bright Future | Newly opened and under full protection, the R.
