'Sight Unseen' Seen Sightly WHITBY (Staff) -- The fourth annual concert, to be held by Denis O'Connor high school students, tomorrow and .Mon- day, will feature a_ three-act comedy, "Sight Unseen." The play will be presented im the school auditorium at 8 p.m. on both evenings. The comedy is centred on haunted manor, where the dead ancestors of a young lady roam at will. The heroine and the spooks provide a bucket-ful of laughs. For centuries, the noble Eng- lish. Elliots have been wealthy and influential. But now their money and power is gone, and lovely young Lady Judith, the last of the line, has inherited nothing but Barnsley, the sixty- room ancestral manor house. Barnsley might be quite sale- able if Judith had not inherited along with it three of her ancestors, who, having died vio- jent deaths in the house, are bound to it forever -- barring exorcism. They are a stubborn and obstreperous lot, giving to reading Judith's mail and wrecking her radios, and they've frightened away every prospective buyer. DETERMINED BUYER But in Mrs. Millicent Malone, an American bakery tycoon, Judith has finally found a buyer who not only doesn't object to "psychic forces'? but actually insists on them. Unfortunately, however, Jud- ith's ancestors have other ideas. They are horrified at the pros- pect of being studied, and when Judith and Archie hold a seance to show Mrs. Malone: that Barnsley is very much haunted, the spirits simply refuse to put in an appearance. This is doubly infuriating to Judith because she finds her- self greatly attracted to Mrs. Malone's newphew Henry, who | is a physicist and a sceptic, and | who can't decide whether the | girl he's falling in love with is a fraudulent trickster or mere- ly needs to have her head examined. MOCK GHOST And when, out of despera- tion, Judith talks Archie into "materializing' as one of the spirits, and her angry ancestors show him up for the mortal he is before the visitors, it seems as if Judith has not only lost the chance of selling Barnsley, but Henry as well. And worse, Archie is furious at being ex- posed, and begins to revenge himself on the ghosts by exor- cising them behind Judith's back. In an ingenious and _hilari- ous third act, the complica- tions are happily resolved, but not before Mrs. Malone had had +1) sé + " A +h fill of "'ectoplasm," and tne smugly scientific Henry has| experienced ihe shock of iis life. ho ner PORPOISES JOIN NAVY U.S. Navy rocket researchers at Point Mugu, Calif., have trained porpoises to retrieve missile parts lost in deep water.
