10 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Fridey, April 1, 1966 DECIDE SIX TROPHY WINNERS Bowmanville Minors Hold 'Hockey Championship Day BOWMANVILLE -- Bowman- ville Recreation Committee's "Hockey Championship Day" was a great success, In the Tyke final, Royals and Americans fought a hard battle with the Americans finally com- ing out on top, 1-0. Both goaltenders were terrific, making save-after-save which included many breakaways by both teams. After regulation time was up the teams were still tied and scoreless. They played a 10-min- ute overtime period with neither team able to score. Americans finally got on the scoresheet at the 1.30 mark of the second overtime period, to win the game and the Police Association Trophy by the close 1-to-0 score. "Red Wings finally got un- tracked and at the 14.00 minute mark David Johnson scored on a pass from Mike O'Brien. But Canadiens made it 3-to-1 on a goal by Laurie Gay assisted by Morris Meadows. Red Wings finished off the scoring for the first period on a} goal by David Smyr, assisted, by Mike O'Brien. Canadiens made it 4-2 on a goal by Laurie Gay, assisted by! Darrell Barrett. In the third period, Canadiens; outscored Red Wings two-to-one Rick Shackelton scored his third at the 6.35 mark on passes from Wayne McDougall and Donald Burgess, then scored his fourth goal of the game at the 12.37 mark on passes from Darrell Barrett and Paul Martin. Red Wings closed the scoring on a second goal by David Smyr Allan Abernethy. The Danny Barnes Trophy was presented to the winners by assisted by David Johnson and Mrs. Lloyd Barnes. HUSKIES NIP FLYERS In the Bantam final, Huskies defeated Flyers 5-4. The Huskies drew first blood at the 17.30 mark, on a goal by Harold Leach, assisted by Lance Livingstone. Flyers tied it at the 1.27 mark of the second period, on a goal by Ken Tabb, assisted by Ken Rowe and Tony Balson.
