INFANTS WORK HARD | THE OSHAWA TIMES, Friday, Merch 18, 1966 13 Calls For Program To Promote Physical Fitness For Women GENEVA PARK, Ont. (CP) Delegates to a conference here on physical fitness for women have urged.a- more vigorous promotion of their subject. About 76 fitness experis meei- ing at this YMCA camp just north of Orillia called for greater promotion Thurs day after hearing several speakers say that physical fitness ' has reached the status of a con- sumer product often peddled by hucksters with no real inter- est in the welfare of consumers. The three-day open confer- ence ended Thursday. Today and Saturday volunteer work- ers and YMCA and YWCA staff will discuss ways of implement- ing the conference's recommen- dations. The conference was spon- sored by the YWCA and fi- nanced with a grant from the federal health and welfare de- partment. : HAVE RESPONSIBILITY Among its findings were: --Persons involved in fitness programs have a responsibil- ity to know about govern- --There is a responsibility for fitness personnel to pur- sue research, including local pilot projects in fitness for women. --There is a responsibility to create programming. The conference also recom- mended that orientation courses be set up for newcomers to Canada so that use could be made of their athletic abilities. It urged a more creative approach to fitness at the elementary school level where young persons were often at their peak of physical con- dition. BECOME PRODUCTS Elizabeth J. Silk is the most susceptible to this type of damage. Many of the new synthetic fibres have high resistance to perspiration. Perspiration will often affect the colour or dye used on many synthetic yarns. Here are a few precautions you can take to prevent severe perspiration damage: The first one is to wear dress shields in your clothes. If they are not the dry cleanable type, you should remove the shields from your clothing before you send them to the cleaners, Have your clothes cleaned re- gularly, Cleaning garments slows down 'the destructive action of perspiration. Remember, the longer perspiration remains in a fabric, the more damage it will do. Protect your garments by having them cleaned regularly by the OSHAWA LAUNDRY & DRY CLEANING, 50 Mill St., Oshawa. * eee TURNBERRY INTERIORS invite the parents of the brides and bridegrooms-to-be to consult now for that very special 'one of a kind" gift.
