Girdle Defeats Hubby . In Battle Over Bulge Dear Ann Landers: I hope you will consider this problem worthy of your column because I want my husband to see your answer. For eight years I 'have been married to a man who despises girdles. He says he has never yet seen a shape that was im- proved by a girdle. According to him a girdle does nothing but give a woman an unnatural, boarded-up look. He claims it does not make a female appear thinner, it only rearranges her bulges. As you know, Ann, knitted suits are in vogue.I don't care how good a woman's figure is, if she wants to look respectable in a knitted skirt she must wear a girdle. My husband says I am wrong. He claims a girdled figure is sexless and uninter- esting. I have bought two girdles in the last five years but he will not allow me to wear them in his presence. Please tell him that I am right, I need your support--Fanny Dear Fanny: It's not my sup- port you need, it's the support of a girdle--and so does every woman, no matter how thin she is. The gal who wears no girdle cannot help but jiggle when she walks. And that's not sexy, it's sloppy. EKS| Dear Injured; If this has hap- pened twice in three months the boy obviously did not learn his lesson the first time. If the kid slams the door again before his father finishes yelling at him I would hope Daddio will give up on this type of punishment and try some- thing else -- something that works. Dear Ann Landers: Please say something to give me peace. Even my religious faith has not provided me the comfort and strength I need, In 1954 my husband was sta- tioned-in Japan. He .returned the following year and we were married, He confessed that he had been living with a Japanese girl. She talked him into having a child even though he told her he would never marry her. She said she wanted something to remember him by and that she would always wait for him. I was heartsick when he first told me about this but I pushed it to the back of my mind. I forgot about it until I became pregnant. Then the awful thought occurred to me. 'Serve Onions As A Vegetable For Health Value And Economy Yellow cooking onions are a staple food most homemakers depend on for flavoring a vari- ety of dishes but often neglect to serve as a vegetable in their own right. Cooking onions are delicious boiled, roasted, stuff- ed or served in a cream sauce. The distinct flavor of onions is traced to an oil that blends easily with other fats and oils in foods. But a simple principle should guide her. If there is a known reason that the child was very angry or frightened it's almost surely a tantrum. Convulsions occur with no cause apparent to a lay ob- server. Young mothers anxious over this matter would do well to have their pediatrician ex- plain the difference. CRY IT OUT Some young mothers may infant or young child will pass out in a rage as to let him have what he wants right away, or fear to let him ever "cry it out." In consequence he may become a tyrant, by throwing a tantrum or threatening to do so Chronic tantrums in the youngster two, three or four usu- ally arise because the mother saying '"'no,"' or having denied the youngster something, re- verses her decision after he has expressed enough anger. Finality of a decision is prob- ably the best means of prevent- ing the tantrum pattern. As a a rage, you should say nothing, do. nothing.
