Sanitorium. in| Gravenhurst where he attended filing Wirct..World War veter- ans. - During -the same year the young doctor took up practice, at the Town of Depot Harbor on Georgian Bay which has since become a ghost town. Duzing the flu epidemic of 1919, Dr. Tomlinson came to Claremont and settled in the village to do his life's work. During the first 10 years of his village practice the doctor travelled by cutter and horse and buggy and recalls the days when he would take the morn- ing train to make a house call six or seven miles away and, because of the lack of transpor- tation, would return from the call by the evening train. DIFFICULT DAYS The depression days brought diffi_uities and the doctor was paid with a quarter of beef or bushels of apples when the world returned to the bartering system and the village doctor had six mouths to feed. Active in community service, the doctor is a past master of the Brougham Masonic Lodge, served for 20 years as the Medi- cal Officer of Health in Picker- ing Township, He was a Library Board, Parks Board and School Board member. STILL ACTIVE Dr. Tomlinson, at 79, is still active in sports and although he has given up soccer he still plays tennis and, after taking up golf at the age of 60, plays 18 holes three times weekly and maintains a score in the 90's. He is a co-sponsor and plays annually in the Father and Three Sons Tournament Three sons and a daughter blessed the family life of the doctor and nine grandchildren and four 'great-grandchildren have followed.
