ee THE GENERALS Toronto Marlboros make their first appearance of the season here at the Civic Audi- torium tomorrow night. The largest crowd recorded at the Auditorium thus far was be- tween these two clubs last season with 4,700 fans sitting in. These two clubs have met | Bobby Orr and Paul Cadieux To Play Bobby Orr O'Shea continue to lead the scoring parade with Orr hav- ing a total of 41 points made up of 15 goals and 26 assists, while O'Shea trails by 2 points with 16-goals and 23 assists for 39 points. The next. two positions are held by Andre Lacroix and Danny Grant of the "Petes" with 38 and 32 points re- spectively followed by the Generals' Wayne Cashman fyith 27 points. Actually, the Generals have four players in the league's top ten scorers in the per- sons of Orr, O'Shea, Cash- man and Bill Little. The first en- counter back on Sunday, Oc- tober 24 ended in a 4-4 stale- mate while last Sunday the two clubs again battled to a 6-6 tie. Goaltender Ian Young of the Generals ranks fourth with a goals against average over 3.59. Young's average shot up last weekend with 12 goals be- ing scored in Saturday's and Sunday's games against Jr. Canadiens and Mariboros, Ian reported a sore arm and had trouble on the short side but his play has been extremely good and we feel he can end up with one of the better aver- ages, at the conclusion of the season. Tomorrow's game begins at 7.15 p.m. and these two clubs should set a seasonal high in attendance at the Auditorium. Marlies Have Had Their Problems. . The Generals have been hard hit by injuries of late but the Toronto Marlboros have also had their. share. Jim McKenny, Barry Watson, Mike Byers and Mike Corri- gan have all been out of the line-up with various ailments. Last week they lost another player, this one for the sea- son, when young Jimmy Davidson broke his leg in three places, in a fall, re- sulting from a fan throwing a paper clip on to the ice. However, the "Marlies" have most of their injure back in the line-up with Mc- Kenny, Watson, Byers and Corrigan all rejoining the club. Billy White and Jimmy Whittaker are out of the Generals line-up for an indefi- nite period. Last weekend Bobby Orr and Paul Cadieux picked up injuries but both these players are expected to dress for tomorrow night's action. This column was. written prior to last night's game be- tween Niagara Falls and Peterbrough and if the Falls won, then the Generals have slipped back into second place and must win tomorrow night to stay in the fight for top spot. On the other hand, if Peterborough won, they too are right in the thick of the race for the league leader- ship, Generals Jottings... It's interesting to note that the Generals haven't lost a game since Ron Dussiaume was elevated from '"Crush- men" Jr. "B" Club. . Speaking of the "Crushmen" they are in Belleville tonight for a fixture on the road and return on next Friday eve- ming for a big night here against the Kingston Fronten- acs... . This will be known as "all kids night," with various merchants and industries in the city, purchasing tickets for this game and in return giving them away to the small fry here in the city.... Lots of prizes will be avail- able to the kids in this game with two "puppy" dogs being drawn for as well as two bicycles and a number of autographed hockey sticks... All indications are that this game will draw well over 3,000 fans to this Jr. "B" at- traction. . . . Beginning next week, purchasers of --pro- grams at the Generals games will also receive a 5" x 7" photo of an Oshawa General player. These photos are made possible, jointly, by the Gen- erals Hockey Club and radio station CKLB and Crown Life Insurance Co, ., . It's an ex- cellent way to get a fine col- lection of this year's members of the Generals roster, They will be inserted into the pro- grame. . .. Last week's "hockey stick promotion" 'at the Jr. "B" game was a huge success with over 1,400 fans on hand. As a matter of fact, they ran out of sticks and those youngsters who received a coupon, may pick up his stick now, at Jim Bishop's Sporting Goods.
