First Charter Presented in Oni. Held By St. John The Oshawa Women's Anxil- jary of the St. John Ambulance was formed on December 1, 1964 with the assistance of Mrs. Virginia Allison, Area Superintendent of Nursing, To- ronto. There were 14 regular members, two associate mem- bers and three honorary mem- bers, Mrs. G. D. Conant, honor- ary president; Mrs. C. D. Rus- sell, honorary. vice-president; Mrs. T. D. In June the auxiliary catered for the local inspection of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and in July a family picnic was held. At the present time the aux- iliary is working toward a ba- zaar, to be held November 26, at which baking goods, fancy work and a rummage sale will be held. The meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month, at members' homes. Mrs. Frank Singer. was in charge of the devotional period and took as her theme 'The Good Shepherd"'. Mrs. Earl Hoy read several letters of thanks from members who had been remembered by the group during illness and be- reavement. A letter of special interest was read from Miss Muriel Bamford, saying she ex- pected to be in Toronto for De- cember and January, and ar- rangements could be made to have her speak on her work in India. The treasurer, Mrs. Russell and the members are looking forward to 1966.
