WHITBY DAY - BY - DAY Car Smash Raises $100 For Hospital Campaign WHITBY (Staff)--The Whitby Drag Knight's mammoth Car Smash on Saturday evening netted the club and the Whitby General campaign around $100, it was reported this week by Jim McCann, club t. "We wish to thank all the people who came out to support us in this venture and the Steinberg Company for offering its parking lot," he said. Fur- ther words of acknowledgement were to the Whitby Police Department and mem- bers of the Whitby Branch St. John Ambulance Corps who were also on hand. Looking to the future, Mr. McCann suggested the club will have further projects to assist the community from time io time. He said the club was not only pleased with the response in aid of the hospital, but also the support provided to the Knights which is a young club. "There was one young lad who was really interested," Mr. McCann said. "He wouldn't give us his name but we got a real kick out of him. This boy spent some money on the car smash, did considerable damage to the cars which is what it was all about, then went back home for money. His enthusiasm helped put the effort over," Mr. Mc- Cann said.
