It will be Gorgeous George, Jr., son of the famous wrestler with his quartet. He sings, plays the guitar and delivers a come- dy routine in this variety act. Manager Louis Bonney of the Cadillac: Hotel's Coronet Room has obtained an all-feminine act for next week starting Monday. They are "The Golden Girls" (Lynn Jones, Lynda Harvie, Julie Davis and Kathy Martin). The quartette has been fea- tured in night clubs and cock- tail lounges throughout Ontario during the past eight months. They are enroute east to Gan- der, Newfoundland, where they will entertain U.S. Air Force personnel for a six-week period during the Christmas and New Year's season. Norma Jean Beasler will be at the Oshawa Civic Auditor- ium Tuesday, Nov. 16 (at 8.30 p.m.) with the famous 'Porter Wagoner Show, one of the big- gest attractions in the world of country music. Her brilliant ca- reer started at 12 when she sold her bicycle and bought her first guitar. While 13, she got her own radio show, a 15-min- ute program from Oklahoma City. She was soon making person- al appearances with artists such as Leon McAuliffe, Billy Gray and Jack Beasley. She finally got a spot on the 'Ozark: Jubi- lee" in 1958 with Red Foley, Billy Walker, Leroy Van Dyke, Wanda Jackson and Bobby Lord. She left the Jubilee in 1960 and moved to Nashville, the country music capital of the world. She met.Porter Wagoner in 1960 and he selected her as the female artist of his show. Also scheduled to appear with Norma Jean is Billy Walker, known as_ the 'Travelin' Texan." At 15, Billy won first prize_in an amateur contest. The prize was an appearance on a Cloyis, New Mexico, radio program. He got the job and kept it until he finished. school. Heelater formed his own band and then came appearances on the Big D Jamboree in Dallas, Ranch Time in Waco, then the biggest show of all -- The Grand Ole Opry -- which he joined in 1960. Billy records for the Colum- bia label and has had many national and international hits to his credit, including "Circum- stances," "Charlie's Shoes'"' and "Forever." He is married to the former Sylvia Smith of Waco, Texas, and they are the parents of four daughters. He ON THE i , loves riding. Managing - director Harry Finer of the Hotel Genosha -- with an eye for the box office -- will bring back 'The Brad- fords," those exponents of Rock "n Roll, for a three-week engage- ment. This will be the popular group's third appearance in Harry's Hideaway since last Jan. 1 when they made their debut in the. popular lounge with a two-week engagement. The troupe -- from Bradford, England -- recently concluded a three-week engagement at the Genosha, which will be -the length of their present stay. "The Bradfords" have kept the cash-registers busy at Harry's Hideaway, while setting long-stay records there -- they feature the kind of entertain- ment most in demand at this hostelry. The Genosha: will again fea- ture the popular honkey-tonk team of Georgina and Jimmy, currently on a long-term ap- pearance in the popular Star- lite Room, which has been re- decorated in the Gay 90's style to match the performance of the two stars (who lean heavily on the songs of. that era). Geor- gina displays nightly a wide array of colorful costumes while rendering songs in her own in- timate way. Jimmy is a polish- ed performer at the honky-tonk piano and lends superb accom- paniment to his feminine star. The Whitby Hotel's Stage Door lounge will have "The Bobsmiths'"' as its featured act for one week starting with the Monday night performance. Take a versatile singer, add a solid stand-up comic and the result could easily be a fast-ris- ing musical comedy duo known as "The Bobsmiths," who have been doing good business at many key points. ; "Bob" Davies handies most of the singing chores while ac- companying himself on his gui- tar. 'Danny' Smith, who fishing and horseback * handles the comedy end of the act is also an accomplished drummer. The boys record on the London label and have had several regional hits. Although young in age, the boys com- bined have 30 years experience. Each started as a child per- former. A _ good-looking team with smart wardrobe, 'The Bobsmiths' '? superb showman- ship guarantees happy audi- ences. Capable of working lounges and floor shows, their material ranges from ballad . crooning to hilarious comedy. Some critics have compared "The Bobsmiths" to Wayne and Shuster in that they have a nat- ural ability to turn the most , serious subjects into a comedy situation. The Marks Theatre on King street east will play 'Mala- mondo" tonight and Sunday (evening performances only).
