He is one of four professional divers employed by the Metro- politan Toronto works depart- ment. Their jobs consist mainly of inspecting underwater construc- tion and making routine checks on inflow and outflow pipes of waterfront sewage or water- treatment installations. Does Davidson see any fish, shipwrecks or mysterious bod- ies? "Nothing," he says.
