It's the first win this year for Whitby over the league-leading Huntsville Junior "B" squad and raises high hopes that the "Steelers" may be able to dis- pose of Huntsville, if they can get to them in the finals. LAWN BOWLERS "Tommy" Thomas and Jack | Hunter, captured The Freeman Bell Memorial Trophy, in the annual men's doubles tournament, at Cobourg, on Wednesday. Fine Showing By Gaels Whips League All-Stars By FRANK RATCLIFFE Oshawa Green Gaels took time out from league action Thursday night, to hand the OLA Junior "A" All-Stars a 10-3 defeat at the Pine Point Arena in Rexdale. The contest was part of a Memorial Night for the late C. R. "Chuck" Spalding, a key figure in the Rexdale La- crosse League. The defending Minto Cup champions turned in one of their finest performances of the sea- son, despite being severely short-handed due to injuries. With regulars Don Stinson, Ross Jones, Dwight Davies and Gay- lord Powless out of the line-up, the Gaels had to go with 12 starters, and the situation was pair of assists each. Other Gael scorers were John Davis with a pair, and Charlie Marlowe and Phil Clayton with singletons. The All-Star goals were notch- ed by Bill Manley of Mimico, and Brian McCutcheon and Jim Moore, both of Etobicoke. Gra- ham Sinclair of Etobicoke start- ed in nets for the Stars, and he was relieved mid-way through the second stanza by Gary Drys- dale of Brampton. Phil Clayton, Joe Kiwior and Charlie Marlowe all came up with stand-out performances for the winners, as they prepare for a crucial contest in Hastings Saturday night.
