Rev, James Glover, minister of the parish church in the little hamlet of Westerkirk, says he was asked five years ago to in- vestigate the parish history to trace Canadian - born Thom- son's family. Because compulsory birth registration did not come until the mid-19th century, he had to search the Westerkirk gitive- yard itself. He discovered two gravestones, one of which "proved to be a stone erected jeither to his (Thomson's) great- great-grandfather or his great- great-great-grandfather." Mr. Glover found that one of Thomson's ancestors emigrated to Canada in 1759 and later was followed by two brothers. "Lord Thomson's ancestors probably were shepherds," Mr. Glover said. '"'They appear to have been a very well-known family in the area but I should think they were quite poor and emigrated to Canada for a bet- ter life." | ATTACK KING JOHANNESBURG (AP)--In a fierce attack Friday on U.S. Nobel Peace Prize winner Mar- tin Luther King, the govern- work- |mént-franchised South African |Broadcasting network accused the civil rights leader of being MUD, MUD, MUD Thursday made a_ mud- plaster figure out of this chuck wagon outrider, Some of the riders men's safety hats.
