ON BASEBALL By DAVE McINTOSH OTTAWA (CP)--With spring's "play ball' Dr. George R. Lindsey of the Canadian Re- search Board is back in print with advice for professional baseball managers. His two most recent papers, produced in his spare time, are entitled The Progress of the Score During a Baseball Game and An Investigation of Strat- egies in Baseball. In 1959 he published Stastical Data Useful for the Operation of a Baseball Team. All these papers have appeared in Amer- ican statistical and research publications which, of course, baseball managers don't gener- ally study, at least in detail. Dr. Lindsey's findings are based on detailed statistics of National, American and Inter- national League games played Statistics Expert Upsets Theories?
