That's the big prize in tonight's OHA J "A" schedule game, here at Civic Auditorium, when Montreal Jr. Canadiens visit our Oshawa Generals. This is second-to-last "home game" for the Generals, St. Cath- arines Black Hawks will be here on Saturday night. On Sun- , Oshawa completes their date book, in Kitchener. The tion is now very clear -- the Generals can clinch fourth place, with a win over Montreal, here tonight. The Cana- be have four games to play, including this one and they have 46 points. They could wind up with 54 points and Gen- erals would have to win, both of their remaining games, should they lose tonight. However, a win tonight means a total of 53 points for Oshawa and the best Montreal could attain would be 52. THE TEAM that finishes in fourth place will have the dobbtful privilege of meeting Niagare Falls, in the first round of playoffs, but at least it would be a 4-out-of-7 series. It has been suggested in certain circles that perhaps Montreal is pot too anxious to meet Niagara Falls first off -- they've had trouble -handling the Flyers this year and besides, they | the two "outside" teams of the circuit and it means the lofgest trip possible, if these two teams have to exchange visits, Generals, on the other hand, have what it takes to dispose of the Niagara Falls Flyers, especially if they can push the series to the limit or at least six games. The locals are rounding into top form on the eve of the blue chips derby, théy proved that with that good win over Marlies on Sunday. Danny O'Shea, after an 11-game sojourn in penance, returns to the lineup tonight and the Generals should be able to display some real potency on the attack. Certainly, the last visit of Montreal gave the local customers one of their better night's entertainment of the and tonight's game should be equally exciting. * "MOONLIGHTERS" is now a byword at the Oshawa Curl- ing Club, following the outstanding success and popularity of the ist annual "Moonlighters Bonspiel", which concluded on Saturday night. A total\of 32 rinks participated, all local curl- ers, with 29 entries from the home club and three Golf Club entries. As the name suggests, the "Moonlighters" did most of'their shining at night, in the week-long event, which saw keen action every night at OCC, with single draws the first foir nights, a double on Friday and the semi-final and final games on Saturday. Doug Grant's rink won the Jack Perry Trophy; Ray Webster's foursome took the Ruddy Electric Trophy and Al Preston's entry copped the Norm Ward Trophy. Jeatacchtuo ac ee oe nae The Prairie Auto Juveniles took a two-point lead for the fourth and last playoff spot in the Oshawa Senior Hockey League-last night when they de- feated McGrath's Plumbing 8-2. In other games at the Brook- lin Arena, Foley's Plumbing up- set Bad Boys 12-7 and Beaupre's Spur walloped Police Associa- tion 12-4 in an exhibition con- test. JUVENILES TRIUMPH The Juveniles, in a warm-up game for their encounter with Toronto Marlies in OMHA Juve- nile playdowns in Oshawa on Wednesday, romped to an easy victory over McGrath's. Victory gave the Juveniles 4 points, two more than Oshawa Discount House. This Sunday, at the Civie Auditorium, these two teams meet head-on in the battle which lacked any resemblance for fourth place, which is also the final week of the season. Glenn Elliott sparked the Ju- veniles to victory with four goals. Singles went to captain Gary Bradley, Ron Willoughby, Gary Dionne and Rob Roberts. In a losing cause, Gary Butler and Gary Porteous each tallied once. McGrath's stayed with the Juveniles for two periods, being down only 4-2, but the winners simply outskated their opposi- tion in the third and fired 'our unanswered goals. WARD LEADS ATTACK In a loosely played game, of defensive hockey, Foley's Plumbing surprised Bad Boys as they skated to a 12-7 victory. Mike Weidmark was missing from Foley's big line of Gary Rowbotham and Ross Ward but DANNY 0'SHEA O'Shea's Aside from the self-selected rinks, leisure of single 10-end games, plus an excellent opportunity for club fellowship, the popularity of the event for the individuals was enhanced by the presentation of individual trophies to. the three event win- ners; a souvenir crest for every competitor and an excellent dance, to wind up the bonspiel on Saturday night. » BLUE PLATE SPECIALS: -- The "Business Girls' Bon- spiel" at the Oshawa Golf Club on Saturday proved a great success. They had entries from as far away as Kingston and Hamilton, which in itself, is something unusual for any bon- spiel, these days... . WHITBY "DUNNIES" marched boldly into the playoffs on Saturday evening, with a well-deserved win over the Neil McNeil Maroons. The win put the County Town lads in fourth place and tonight they open their Junior "B" semi-finals, in Etobicoke. Second game of the 4-of-7 series, is at Whitby Arena, this Friday night. . ... RAY GRANT of Unionville, skipped his "Ontario" rink to an im- pressive 7-5 win over one of the more favored rinks, Nick Lashuk's Alberta representatives, in the first round of the Canadian championships yesterday, at Saskatoon. Oshawa has a large contingent of 15 on hand to watch the "Brier" play... . AS EXPECTED, Ottawa, head city of Canada, has been chosen, logically, as site: of the 1967 'Centennial Year" Btier, with the playdowns next (1966) March going to Hali- fax... . TORONTO LEAFS have finally made their move on Billy Harris and he's scheduled to go to Rochester. He may balk at the move! Harris has long been regarded as a very efficient centre, in a game where the going is not too heavy, but it is no secret that Coach "Punch" Imlach has never been quite sold on his slim playmaker. Dunnies' Prep For Semi-Final Series By CLIFF GORDON Whitby Dunlops went through a brisk workout last night, as they make ready for the big opening game of the Metro Jr. "B" League semi-finals, which open tonight, at the Etobicoke Arena, where "Dunnies" meet the Indians, in the first of a best-of-seven series. Second game of. the series is slated for the Whitby Arena, Friday night. All games are called for 8:30 p.m. *"Dunnies" looked sharp for their big test against the league- leaders. On paper, the teams ate evenly matched. '"'Dunrnies" had a big edge over the sea- sdn, winning twice and tying two, in four games against the pennant winners. But playoffs are a different story and the Whitby team realizes full well the impor- tance of that first game. A win is 'a must" for ""Dunnies" on the opposing ice, since the In- dians have the advantage of ithe extra "home game" if the series goes beyond four. Both Phil Solomon and Bil} Lastic, who were injured in the game Saturday night, work- out appear fit and ready to go. Mike Taylor, who suffered a bruised groin muscle on Satur- day night, showed no ill effects.
