Many were yet to be discovered, especially in South America and Africa. Ornithology was a hobby of Mr. Long's, developed while he spent ten years in Chibidi, Malawi, Africa, where during the last five years there, he was principal of the Bible Insti- tute in Chibidi. He returned to Canada in 1962 and was now pastor of the Community Bap- tist Church at Pickering Beach. Mr. Long collected over 2,000 specimens of various species of birds and has donated many to museums, including about 45! donated to the Royal Ontario Museum. "The birds of Africa had more brilliant plumage and different ornamentation than their north- ern cousins," he said.
